What is Somatic Installation? Somatic Installation is an innovative therapeutic technique designed by Elena to help individuals internalize positive experiences deeply into their bodies. This method draws on Rick Hanson's Positive Neuroplasticity approach and integrates various therapeutic modalities, including talk therapy, mindful concentration, storytelling, expressive arts, movement therapy, and EFT/Tapping. How It Works The core idea behind Somatic Installation is to embed positive somatic markers within the body, creating lasting emotional and physical well-being. Somatic markers, as theorized by neuroscientist Antonio Damasio, are bodily responses linked to emotions that guide our decision-making processes and behaviors. By focusing on positive experiences and using somatic methods during therapy, we can reinforce these beneficial markers, making positive emotional states more accessible and intuitive in everyday life. Somatic Installation Protocol 1. Observing: Identifying the "Seed" Desired State Begin by observing the desired state (e.g., confidence). Recall a memory or situation that naturally activates this state, and locate a somatic marker—such as a physical sensation in the body—that emerges when you feel this way. 2. Talking: Bridging Somatic and Cognitive Awareness Engage in conversation about various facets of the desired state, creating connections between the body's sensations and cognitive understanding. 3. Tapping: Releasing Blocks Through Free mE EFT Use acupressure-based Free mE EFT tapping to clear emotional, mental, and energetic blocks that inhibit the full embodiment of the desired state. Deepen this installation with the Heart Installation technique to embed the experience within the body. 4. Expressing Through Movement and Creative Practices Further integrate the desired state by expressing it through movement, vocalization, storytelling, or visual arts. These practices reinforce and deepen the desired state in both body and mind. 5. “Rehearsing” State Activation and Release Practice "rehearsing" the desired state by activating and relaxing it several times. This trains the nervous system to access and sustain the desired state deliberately. This protocol supports lasting integration by bridging somatic experiences with cognitive insights, clearing blocks, and creating repeatable patterns for accessing the desired state. Benefits By combining these techniques, Somatic Installation not only addresses negative patterns but also actively cultivates positive ones. This comprehensive approach helps individuals achieve a balanced state of well-being, fostering resilience and emotional stability. Clients often find that this method enables them to experience a greater sense of peace, happiness, and fulfillment in their daily lives.
